West Beach Surf Lifesaving - Pink and Blue charity event
Sunday 8 February 2026 was an outstanding day for the passionate team at West Beach Surf Life Saving Club in South Australia.
Each year they run their community Pink and Blue fundraiser to support Cancer research and patient support.
Planet Reg helped them out for the first time in 2026 to:-
- Automate their Participant Registrations
- Collect Payments from Participants in advance
- Build Donations
- Increase Merchandise Sales
- Streamline Check-in processes on Event Day
- Better manage and understand their Participant data pre and post event
- Build a mailing list to better promote their 2027 event
A high volume of registrants arrived on the day, prompted by a Planet Reg system feature, where all registrants received an automated Reminder email a few days before the event.
On the day, 'walk-up' registrants were able to scan a QR code to direct access the registration form, to speed up their entry to the event and save the registrant desk team much time.
Pre AND Post event data analysis and reporting became easier, by downloading a CSV copy of all registrants, able to be sorted in all manner of ways (eg, see who bought merchandise; who made an extra donation; what geographical area did participants come from; did any participants note medical conditions etc).
Being new to using Planet Reg, our team were delighted to meet with the West Beach SLSC team to brainstorm best ways for them to set-up their booking forms. Our experience helped them solve problems / frustrations from past years.

Multiple West Beach SLSC volunteers used laptops to quickly and efficiently 'check-in' pre-registered people. QR codes to the registration form were fast to manage on-day walk up participants.
Registration lines moved swiftly for check-in. Each component of the event had its own set of Check-in volunteers (eg - Walk Team; Run Team; Swim Team). Attendees were happy to check-in fast, with all components of the event starting On-Time!
Merchandise was Pre-Purchased by many participants through West Beach SLSC's Planet Reg registration forms ... but also on the day.
Adelaide's Channel 9 News team got a birds-eye view of the Pink and Blue event from an SA Metropolitan Fire Service truck's cherry picker!
The first wave of 'long course' swim participants make their way down to the beach to get underway.
Safety Teams in place - many on water and air support teams were in place, ready to look out for and care for participants.
Hundreds of people participated in the Pink and Blue Walks.
